Grand Italian Elopement Tour in the Mountains
Believe it or not, an Italian elopement flying through the mountains in a helicopter wasn’t Chris and Franzi’s original plan. They’d planned a big wedding, but after rescheduling it no less than three times due to COVID concerns, they decided to take the money they would’ve spent on the wedding and invest in an adventure. Together, we crafted three extraordinary days throughout Europe and captured a stunning life-long memory.
A Dramatic Italian Elopement Tour
On the first day of this Italian elopement, we hiked up into the Dolomites. My husband and I are very familiar with these mountains, so we were able to bring this amazing couple to the perfect place for them to say their vows. Dressed in their traditional clothes – a dirndl and lederhosen – Franzi and Chris performed their marriage ceremony in front of a sweeping, dreamlike panorama.
On the second day, the helicopter picked us up in front of the Charly. We stopped at a mountain hut (Marmolada) to take in even more incredible views before flying down into Venice. The intimacy of the gondola ride was a real highlight of the shoot that day – but the adventure wasn’t over yet. The next stop on this Italian elopement was Tuscany.
From Mountain Views to Tuscan Roads
On the third day, we drove with an old VW Beetle through the winding roads and hills of Tuscany. We stopped in a vineyard for some local wine-tasting and basked in the sun. It’s hard to believe that so many beautiful sights could be crammed into three days, but this is the kind of challenge that makes us, as elopement photographers, absolutely light up! And for Franzi and Chris, it was the trip of a lifetime.
