Are you looking for an unforgettable elopement experience? This guide covers everything you need to know about planning a genuine adventure elopement in Austria!

Saying your vows on the top of a mountain is an unforgettable experience:  unlike anything else. The rise of adventure elopement in recent years has led to couples breaking the mold and celebrating their love in increasingly creative ways, and we love it! Here at Blitzkneisser, we help people craft and experience dream come true adventure elopements. So what should you consider if you’re thinking of having one yourself?

Planning an Adventure Elopement

When you’re planning an adventure elopement, getting in touch with local experts is a must. It is important to choose an adventure elopement package that fits your unique needs and preferences.

Some key considerations to keep in mind when choosing an elopement package include the location of your ceremony, the level of customization offered by the vendor, and the overall cost of the package.

Location

To start, consider the location of your adventure elopement and whether it is a popular tourist destination.

At the same time, it should also offer stunning natural scenery. Andreas and I specialize in these types of elopements so we’ve got our hiking boots at the ready at any given moment!

Next, assess the level of customization you’d like. Many adventure elopement packages offer a variety of customization options: from choosing the style and theme of your ceremony to selecting the officiant.

Additionally, it is important to carefully review all legal requirements for getting married in Austria. You will need to ensure that all paperwork is in order well ahead of your elopement date.

Cost

Finally, consider the overall cost of the package. While elopement packages can vary widely in price, it is important to find one that fits within your budget.

Pick a location that speaks to you

If you’re looking for a truly magical and serene location to say your vows, then you can’t go wrong with an elopement on a mountain top in Austria. There are seemingly endless options to choose from. Each region boasts its own distinctive charm.

Some of the most popular choices include the picturesque region of Tyrol. It is known for its majestic mountains and deep valleys. For those looking to escape the crowds, there’s also the tranquil area of Hallstatt in the Salzkammergut. You can soak in breathtaking views of pristine lakes and ancient villages there.

Tyrol (Also spelled Tirol)

First of all, we need to confess that we’re pretty biased here as we’re both proud Tyrolese. But, even if we took the local bias out, I think we’d still pick Tyrol as the best region to elope in Austria.

The lake is fed by a network of freshwater springs, resulting in its beautiful turquoise waters. We were mesmerized by the jewel-like clarity of the colours and the serenity of the surrounding woods.

Kitzbuhel is another popular destination in the Tyrol region that a lot of adventure-seeking couples are looking to elope in. During winter, the mountains get covered in powdery snow. It’s perfect for either snowshoeing or skiing, which a lot of runaway romantics are keen on doing during their adventure elopement.

Salzkammergut Region

When it comes to finding a romantic, adventurous location for your elopement, there are few places as sought after as Hallstatt. This charming village in the Salzkammergut region has become one of the most popular tourist destinations in Austria.

Hence, it is far from the adventure elopement of anyone’s dream. As an alternative, we recommend exploring the awe-inspiring Salzkammergut mountains. With their towering peaks and lush forests, these rugged mountains offer plenty of stunning vistas that are perfect for capturing all the magic of your elopement.

Whether you choose an elopement atop the peaks of Tyrol or amid the idyllic waters of Salzkammergut, one thing is certain – your special day will be truly unforgettable! So if you’re dreaming about saying “I do” surrounded by stunning natural beauty, look no further than an Austrian mountain top elopement. It doesn’t get more romantic than that!

The legal requirements for an adventure elopement in Austria

If you’re planning to get married in Austria, then your only legal option is the civil ceremony. It is presided over by the Standesamt. These ceremonies are typically held at the local registry office and are quick and straightforward, with minimal pomp and circumstance. Typically lasting only about 30 minutes, these ceremonies focus on establishing the details of a couple’s marriage, such as their names, ages, and other basic information.

Rather than tying the knot via a civil ceremony, they have their legal paperwork processed before or after their elopement. This can be done either at home before they travel to Austria. Alternatively, it can also be done upon their return home after the elopement trip has been completed. So, most couples who are planning to have an adventure elopement get legally married before embarking on their trip.

By avoiding this step in the marriage process, couples are free to focus on spending time with one another and celebrating their love rather than dealing with government paperwork. But no matter how it happens legally, what really matters is that these two people are joining together for life in an intimate commitment witnessed by family and friends.

Hiring your vendors

When it comes to eloping, the key is to keep it simple. With your location and legal documents in order, all that’s left is preparing for the big day itself. For most couples, this means finding a good elopement photographer who can also act as a planner. A talented adventure elopement photographer will have plenty of experience both shooting photos and handling the logistics of an elopement ceremony.

On an adventure elopement, you don’t just have to think about the details themselves – music, cake, officiant, ceremony decoration, and more. You also have to consider how to get them up a mountain!
